Bee Eater with spiked bee on barbed wire (Tamron 200-500mm)

May 29, 2011

Sony A700 with Tamron SP 200-500mm at 500mm ISO 200 F7.1 1/640 using the car window frame as support.

During my trip to the Extremadura in Spain we saw a lot of Bee Eaters. These wonderful coloured and shy birds are hard to capture on camera. It is not difficult to get them on a telegraph line from a distance but real close up is hard to do. At one day we were very lucky that one of them stayed long enough next to our car to get a few close-up shots. Only at home i saw that it had spiked a bee on the barbed wire! I did not know that Bee eaters did that.
Enjoy the picture of this beautiful bird.
